The Risk Management and Patient Safety Institute Reaccredited by ACCME® for Six Years

Lansing, MI - August 16, 2011 - The Risk Management and Patient Safety Institute (RM&PSI), a member company of Coverys, today announced it was successfully reaccredited for six years by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®). This achievement recertifies RM&PSI as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. The duration of the accreditation period is the longest possible awarded by the ACCME.

RM&PSI provides clinical risk management services to its affiliate medical professional liability insurance companies MHA Insurance Company (MHAIC) and Washington Casualty Company (WCC), member companies of Coverys. In addition to MHAIC and WCC, RM&PSI provides comprehensive clinical risk management services to healthcare providers and hospitals nationally to educate, improve outcomes and minimize risk factors.

“We are proud to have received the six-year accommodation by ACCME,” said John R. Karlen, RM&PSI, MHAIC and WCC president and COO. “This honor is a direct reflection of the outstanding staff and leadership team at RM&PSI, as well as affirmation that it is a prominent national leader in clinical risk management and patient safety programs. We remain dedicated to providing the highest quality educational resources to our MHAIC and WCC policyholders as well as all healthcare providers and facilities.”

RM&PSI provides CME-accredited educational programs that cover the critical issues facing healthcare delivery today and assists in identifying best practices for a wide range of specialty care. RM&PSI has been an accredited provider of CME credits since 1994 and provides more than 50 opportunities and courses for CME credits each year. RM&PSI is also an accredited provider of nursing continuing education.

ACCME is the main accreditation body for CME courses. These organizations include the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical Association, the Association for Hospital Medical Education, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Federation of State Medical Boards of the U.S. and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies.
