ProMutual Group Adds Donna M. Norris, M.D., to its Board

Boston, MA – ProMutual Group, a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance, is pleased to announce the addition of Donna M. Norris, M.D., to its Board of Directors. Dr. Norris was officially elected during the company’s annual meeting on June 1, 2011. She joins a board composed of a majority of practicing healthcare providers, concerned with the needs of the healthcare community.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Norris join us on the Board,” said Kenneth A. Heisler, M.D., FACS, chairman of the Board of Directors for ProMutual Group. “In addition to her active clinical practice of psychiatry, Dr. Norris is a leader in organized medicine, both at the local and national level. She is a medical author, editor, international lecturer and tireless advocate for children’s health and safety. Her experiences are a marvelous asset to the company, the Board and our policyholders as we continue to work to protect those who provide healthcare.”

Dr. Norris received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fisk University and a Doctor of Medicine from Ohio State University. She then went on to train in psychiatry at Boston University Medical Center and to serve as a Fellow in Child Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Boston. An active member of the Massachusetts Medical Society, she currently serves on multiple healthcare committees including the House of Delegates, the Committee on Professional Liability, the 

Committee on Finance and the Massachusetts Medical Benevolent Society. She is also a member of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association and several other national psychiatric associations. She has earned many national honors, particularly in psychiatry and is also active in volunteer work, such as for the Children’s Trust Fund in Massachusetts and as the Chair of the Regis College Board of Trustees.

Dr. Norris currently has a private practice in Wellesley specializing in child, adolescent, adult and forensic psychiatry. She also serves as a consultant at the Probate & Family Courts of Massachusetts and is on the medical staff in psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Boston. Dr. Norris is also currently an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry and involved in the Program in Psychiatry and the Law, both at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Medical Center. She resides in Wellesley with her husband.
