Gregg L. Hanson
Chief Executive Officer and President
Gregg Hanson is the chief executive officer and president of Coverys. He has served in this position since January 2012 and began his career at Coverys as vice president of underwriting in 2000. He was promoted to senior vice president of underwriting in 2006 and was named the company’s chief operating officer in 2009.
Hanson is a graduate of the University of North Dakota where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is a member of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
Joseph G. Murphy
Chief Operating Officer
Joseph Murphy joined Coverys as the chief operating officer in 2015. In this role, he also oversees the underwriting, marketing and distribution, risk management, Coverys Education, claims departments, and Coverys Insurance Services. He plays a pivotal role in the execution of Coverys’ long-term strategic plan.
Prior to joining Coverys, Murphy served as the Commissioner of Insurance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2009 to 2014. In this previous role, Murphy oversaw the implementation of both state and national health reform as well as reforming the Massachusetts private passenger automobile marketplace. He was an active member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and served as chair of the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission, and as a member of the Executive Committee, Property and Casualty Insurance Committee, Reinsurance Task Force, Surplus Lines Task Force and Workers’ Compensation Task Force as well as a number of other committees and task forces.
Todd Mills
Chief Financial Officer
Todd Mills joined Coverys as chief financial officer in 2016. He oversees corporate finance functions and leads the financial analysis of short- and long-term strategy to support company growth. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, strategic finance and planning, capital management, and finance function transformation.
Mills received a Bachelor of Business degree in accounting with a finance sub-major from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. He is a chartered accountant (CA) from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.
Lynnette Matza
Executive Vice President
Lynnette Matza currently serves as executive vice president. She is responsible for corporate oversight of Coverys-owned Med-IQ, Inc., a leading provider of clinical and risk management education, consulting, and quality improvement solutions. Lynnette is also a member of management boards of subsidiary companies for Coverys.
Prior to her current role, she served as president and chief executive officer of Preferred Professional Insurance Company (PPIC®), a Coverys company. She joined PPIC in 1988 as controller. During her tenure, she served as vice president of finance, chief financial officer and senior vice president, and president and chief executive officer.
Mary Ursul
Senior Advisor
In her current role as senior advisor, Mary Ursul is responsible for oversight of the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation, Inc. In her most recent role with the organization, Ursul served as executive vice president. She joined Coverys in 2006.
Ursul is a member of the Michigan Society of Healthcare Risk Management and was awarded the R. Paul Venzke Award for Outstanding Performance in the Field of Healthcare Risk Management. She is a current member of the State Bar of Michigan and is a licensed registered nurse. Ursul earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit, School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from New York University.
Joe R. Zorola
Chief Underwriting Officer
Joe Zorola is the chief underwriting officer and oversees underwriting across the Coverys enterprise. Zorola has been a member of the Coverys team since 1986, serving as vice president of underwriting, director, and senior manager of underwriting.
Zorola is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and is a licensed Massachusetts Property and Casualty producer. He is a graduate of Brown University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in mathematics.
Erin Brennan Bagley
Vice President and General Counsel
Erin Brennan Bagley joined Coverys in April 2014 as vice president and general counsel. She is responsible for oversight of the company’s legal department as it carries out its mission to advise the company on all corporate, regulatory and legal matters enterprise-wide.
Bagley is a Hearing Committee Member with the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers, earned a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from St. Lawrence University in New York. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
William Chapdelaine
Senior Vice President, Business Development, Distribution and Marketing
William Chapdelaine joined Coverys in August 2016 as the senior vice president of business development and distribution. Chapdelaine has over 30 years of years of industry experience and brings an extensive track record of building strategic distribution plans and driving results through foundational sales disciplines.
Chapdelaine received a MBA in finance from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
Eric Crockett
Senior Vice President, Information Technology
Eric Crockett joined Coverys in 2002 and currently serves as the senior vice president of information technology. He provides strategy for application development, quality assurance, information security, voice and data communications, and oversees the underlying IT infrastructure for the entire organization.
Crockett has local area networks and data communications certifications from Northeastern University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from St. Michael's College in Vermont.

Tara Gibson
Senior Vice President, Claims
Tara Gibson is the senior vice president of claims at Coverys. She is responsible for overseeing claims management across the Coverys enterprise and is committed to providing quality claims services for Coverys policyholders. Tara has been a member of the Coverys team since 1998 and has previously served as vice president of risk management, senior manager and manager of underwriting, and product development manager. She holds registered professional liability underwriter (RPLU), chartered property and casualty underwriter (CPCU), associate in fidelity and surety bonding (AFSB), and associate in reinsurance (ARe) designations. Tara is also a licensed Massachusetts Property and Casualty Broker and holds non-resident licenses throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. She is a graduate of Rider University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance.
Robert Hanscom
Vice President, Business Analytics
Robert Hanscom joined Coverys in August 2013 and serves as the vice president of business analytics. He is responsible for oversight of enterprise-wide data quality, data governance, comparative benchmarking, and the advancement of analytics to support the business in delivering on its overall strategy.
Hanscom earned a Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Pacific Union College in California.
Kevin Kelly
Vice President, Business Development
Kevin Kelly joined Coverys as vice president of business development in 2016. In this role, Kelly oversees marketing and business development’s national broker relations. Prior to joining Coverys, Kelly held management positions as a government regulator, hospital administrator, managed care executive, and healthcare entrepreneur. Kelly’s hospital management positions included Hartford Hospital, Connecticut Health System, and the University of Connecticut Health Center/School of Medicine.
Subsequent to his work in hospital administration, Kelly was founder and CEO of several entrepreneurial healthcare/insurance-related ventures including MedSpan Health Options Inc., MRM Group LLC, and KLN Specialty Insurance LLC.
Kevin obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College and Masters of Public Health from Yale University. Post-graduation from Yale, Kelly was awarded the American Hospital’s and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s Advanced Fellowship in Healthcare Policy and Management. He has served on many healthcare-related boards and authored numerous healthcare, managed care, and risk management articles.
Stephen Langlois
Vice President of Actuarial
Steve Langlois has been with Coverys since 1989 and manages the actuarial function for the entire organization as the vice president of actuarial. Langlois first joined the organization as an underwriting assistant and has worked as an underwriter, a statistical analyst and actuarial analyst during his tenure with Coverys.
Langlois received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Boston College and an associate degree in underwriting designation from the Insurance Institute of America.
Veronica G. Matejko
Vice President of Workers’ Compensation Services
Veronica Matejko has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry with a focus on workers’ compensation. In her role at Coverys as the vice president of workers’ compensation services, Matejko manages the insurance and self-insured workers’ compensation programs, sales efforts, and works with staff to identify growth opportunities.
Matejko is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and a licensed property and casualty producer. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree in integrative management and a Bachelor of Science degree in retail management from Michigan State University.
Amanda McHale
Vice President, Underwriting
Amanda McHale serves as the vice president of underwriting operations for Coverys’ east, including Coverys RRG, Inc. She joined Coverys in 1999 and has held various roles in the underwriting department.
McHale is a licensed Massachusetts property and casualty producer and a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in comprehensive science from Villanova University.
Sam Mezzich
President
Coverys Specialty Insurance Company
Sam Mezzich joined Coverys in 2015 and leads Coverys Specialty Insurance Company as president. He manages all excess and surplus underwriting efforts for the organization.
Mezzich has over 25 years of medical professional underwriting experience and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis College in New York City
Michael Miller
Vice President, Underwriting
Michael Miller is responsible for underwriting operations enterprise-wide as vice president of underwriting. He has been with Coverys since 1998, starting as an underwriter and then serving in a variety of positions within the underwriting department, most recently as regional vice president of underwriting for the East region.
Miller holds designations as a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). He is a licensed property and casualty producer and is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and the CPCU Society. Miller earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, with a concentration in accounting and economics.
Beth Murphy
Vice President, Organizational & Leadership Development
Beth Murphy joined Coverys in 2013 and serves as the vice president of organizational & leadership development. In her role, Beth acts as an internal consultant and business partner providing expertise in the areas of organizational health, change management, employee engagement and talent development. Specific areas that Beth and her team focus on include the design and delivery of management and leadership development training programs, the facilitation of team effectiveness sessions, executive coaching and organization development and strategy work.
Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bryant University in Rhode Island.
Noreen Fiore-Sarno
Vice President of Human Resources
Noreen Fiore-Sarno has been with Coverys since 2000 and currently serves as the vice president of human resources. She is responsible for all human resource operations at Coverys.
Fiore-Sarno earned a graduate certificate in human resource management from Northeastern University and is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management. She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in criminal justice and a minor in psychology.
Stephanie Sheps
Vice President, Claims
Stephanie Sheps is the vice president of claims. She is responsible for oversight of claims operations in the East and West regions, as well as national claims operations for Coverys Specialty Insurance Company and Coverys Custom Accounts.
Sheps is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Professional Liability Underwriters Society, and serves as Vice Chairperson of the Professional Liability Foundation of Massachusetts. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University, with a dual major in political science and French. Sheps is a member of the Massachusetts bar and earned a Juris Doctor degree from Boston University School of Law.
Brian York
Vice President of Underwriting, Coverys Custom Accounts
Brian York joined Coverys in 2014 as underwriting manager. He now serves as the vice president of underwriting, overseeing Coverys Custom Accounts, the large account underwriting division for the organization. In this role, he is responsible for product and program development, strategy and reinsurance relationships to serve the needs of self-insured healthcare institutions and physician practices, and those involved with captive structures.
York holds Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University’s College of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in Pennsylvania.

Wayne Zack is the senior vice president of claims and oversees the operations of claims services for the organization in the Midwest region. He brings over 25 years of experience in claims management to the department.
Wayne Zack holds Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation, is a member of the Michigan Society for Healthcare Risk Management (MSHRM), and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
