Stef Raftopoulos, CEO
stef.raftopoulos@coverys.london

Stef brings over 35 years of experience starting new insurers and guiding businesses through complex strategic change for some of London’s top insurance companies and Lloyd’s managing agencies in the UK, US, Bermuda, Europe, and the Far East. Before joining Coverys in 2022, Stef was the founder and managing director of a specialist consulting firm that focused on establishing new business operations, acquisition management, and enterprise integrations. In addition to his significant industry expertise and knowledge, Stef was also the founder and CEO of a niche MGA operating in the London Market. 

Chris Brooking, Underwriting

In 2023, Chris took the role of Chief Underwriting Officer at Coverys in London. He is responsible for building out the Company platform in the UK, and is a member of the EXCO. 

Chris began his insurance career in 2003 working on the Healthcare & Professional Liability account at Catlin and was promoted to Class Underwriter for the Healthcare portfolio in 2009. 

In 2013, he joined the Barbican syndicate as Underwriting Manager for Healthcare, responsible for rebuilding the US and International healthcare portfolio. In 2015, Chris moved to BRIT Global Specialty to establish a new healthcare portfolio. 

In 2019, Chris made the switch to the broking side, joining Tysers as a Director and Head of Healthcare. In 2021, Chris moved to Price Forbes as a Director to join the established healthcare team there. 

Chris is ACII qualified and holds a BSC (Hons) in Politics and Economics from the University of Bath. Chris has previously been a Member of the LMA North American E&O Panel and is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers. 

Amanda McHale, Underwriting

Amanda joined Coverys in 1999 and has held various leadership roles in the underwriting group. In her current role, she is responsible for underwriting capacity, practices, and procedures as well as program development and strategy with the Coverys’ London market team.

Amanda is a licensed property and casualty producer and a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University.
 
Ellie Jacob, Underwriting

Ellie Jacob joined Coverys in June 2018 as Operations & Claims Assistant before transitioning to the Underwriting team in April 2020. 

Ellie is responsible for the technical pricing of risks and has had exposure to a variety of operations including actuarial analysis, claims and the structuring of open market and binder facilities, and will be taking on a more client facing role.  

Prior to joining Coverys in 2018, Ellie served as an Accounts Assistant for Besso Ltd for a number of the companies divisions.

Jovana Pepic, Underwriting

Jovana Pepic joined Coverys in October 2022 as Healthcare Analyst after graduating from Oxford University with a Master’s in Chemistry in June 2022. Since joining the team, Jovana has had exposure to a variety of operations including pricing and actuarial analysis, claims and the structuring of open market and binder facilities. 

Jovana responsibilities include technical pricing of risks, along with being involved in the wider underwriting side of the business and is enthusiastic about taking on more of a client-facing role. 

Mark Wilkinson, Technical Underwriting

Mark joined Coverys in June 2020 as Underwriting Analyst for Syndicate 1975, before being promoted to Assistant Underwriter in early 2022. 

Mark’s responsibilities include the technical pricing of open market medical professional liability risks, as well as creating tools to aid the underwriter’s decision making. 

Prior to joining Coverys, Mark worked in the data and analytics team at Charles Taylor for the Standard P&I Club. This involved refining the clubs technical pricing capabilities, creating MI reports and ad hoc project work.
 
Xanthe Boyle, Claims

Xanthe joined Coverys in October 2021, and is responsible for all claims handling, strategies and philosophies.

Xanthe has worked in liability claims roles for 30+ years, and previously worked for QBE as their dedicated global Healthcare & Life Science technical claims handler. Before joining Coverys she worked at MSAmlin exclusively on the US & International Casualty and Healthcare Claims, provided training to other team members and DCA’s, devised the claims philosophy and reserving protocols, created & reported claims analytics and trends.

Xanthe is the Chair of the London Market Healthcare working group which devises strategy, and drives consistency along with technical knowledge sharing. She also mentors young professionals in the insurance market, both internally and externally.

Alex Rule, Pricing 

Alex Rule (FIA) joined Coverys in May 2020 as Deputy Pricing Manager for Syndicate 1975 and Syndicate 1991, before being promoted to Head of Pricing in early 2022.  Alex is working more closely with the underwriting team going forward for Coverys.  

Alex is primarily responsible to provide actuarial input and analyses for Coverys in London and the US.  

Prior to joining Coverys, Alex worked at Arch Insurance Europe for 6 years as an Actuarial Analyst becoming an Actuary by qualifying in December 2018. The work involved pricing and reserving for all the lines of business that Arch ranging from Energy, PA and Property to Marine, D&O and PI. 

Max Hanson, Pricing

Max Hanson (AIA) joined Coverys in September 2023 as a Senior Actuarial Analyst, before qualifying as an Actuary in December 2023. 

Max works with the UK underwriting team at Coverys, reviewing and determining technical premiums for medical professional liability risks. Max also provides support to the US team to assist in modelling complex risks and providing support during key renewal periods.

Prior to joining Coverys, Max worked at IQUW for 3 years as a Pricing Analyst.  The work involved pricing for the personal lines syndicate ERS, focussing on writing business for different vehicle types including supercars and classic cars.
